Busan is South Korea’s second largest city, just behind Seoul. If you are a fan of Reply 1997, you will love Busan more because the scenery in this place is significantly breathtaking and looks familiar (because the whole of the said film was shoot in Busan). Also, the local people of Busan have very cute voices, you can hear Taeyang’s voice (a member of Big Bang) or Jungkook’s of BTS. Now, let’s go into the main matter: Today we will introduce Busan tour this summer, don’t hesitate and let’s hang out together at Busan’s splendid sandy beach.

How to get to Busan?

It is also possible to fly from Vietnam – Busan, but flying to Seoul a few days before and then to Busan is more common (staying in Busan for two days is enough).

From Seoul to Busan there are quite a few ways to go, but we will suggest a suitable and convenient way to travel.

There are five regular airlines in Gimpo (Seoul) – Busan. Namely, Korean Air, Asiana Air, Jeju Air, Air Busan, and Jin Air. Prices range from $100 to $150/round trip depending on flight dates and promotion campaigns. It will take 55 minutes to fly. You can buy tickets easily on the respective websites of the above companies (you may google such information).

Korean Train eXpress (KTX)

KTX train - comfortable ride

This is South Korea’s high-speed rail system. Top speed for trains in regular service is currently 305 km/h (190 mph), and trains have just a few stops. There are about 6 trips from Seoul to Busan every day. The runtime is about 2 hours and 40 minutes. Normal seat price is $55.8, first class seat is $78/time. So the train cost is almost equal to the air ticket.
However, the plane also takes time and costs to go to the airport, check-in, get baggage. Going by KTX is more convenient as you just go to the train station near your hotel, change tickets and get on board. Keep in mind that you cannot see the scenery while sitting on the KTX since everything just goes by in a blur. High-quality trains, comfortable train seats, free Wifi, things and coffee vending machines.

Regular trains

There are two types of trains, namely ITX-Saemul and Mugunghwa. The runtime is 4 hours and 45 minutes (ITX) and 5 hours and 30 minutes (Mugunghwa). This is the train that you can see scenery. Moderate speed. The price for ITX is $40 and Mugunghwa is $27. It is hard to understand what advantages that ITX has (expensive price and slow runtime). If you go by a normal train, you should go to Mugunghwa. Both types of trains offer free Wifi, cushioned seats, air conditioning.

Bus

Getting to Busan by bus

This kind of transport is mentioned so that you can have more options. Having said that, tourists often who have limited time would buy KORAIL Pass to go by KTX which takes you to destination quickly. It normally takes 6 – 8 hours depending on traffic situation. Buses are not recommended to be chosen since the roadside is not beautiful and there might be traffic jams on highways during holidays.

Where to stay in Busan?

Haeundae beach
Haeundae beach

Which location is the first option? This time we booked on Airbnb. Busan Haeundae beach is so beautiful that I decided to rent a room that can help us watch the sea and the sunrise.

Hotel at Haeundae beach

We share the room that we stayed here.

The price is $33 per person, $46 for 2 people. It’s “dirt cheap”. Please note that this rate is for weekdays, not weekends.

Even when you are not familiar with the booking on Airbnb, you have to choose places near Busan Station or Haeundae Beach to maximize the beauty of the scenery.

Another tip for those who are “adventurous and poor” but sleep like a dog (without the luxury bedding) can sleep in Jimjilbang bathhouse. Near the Haeundae Sea area are two large salt bath rooms, costing $8.4 per person, with beds and pillows other than mats other bathrooms. For your reference:

This is a very beautiful temple of Busan on the hill, overlooking the sea. The temple was built in 1376, near Haeundae beach. On Buddha’s birthday, the temple will have a beautiful lantern festival.

There are many bustle stalls on the way to the pagoda. If you are lynx-eyed and lucky, you can find some unique, cute and cheap gifts.
