Sun Moon Lake is the largest freshwater lake and also the most famous lake in Taiwan. The name is so beautiful because if you stand from the Ci’en tower look down, the east of the lake has rounded – shape like the sun, the west has curved shape like half of the moon. Exploring the Sun Moon Lake
The most popular activity to discover the beauty of Sun Moon Lake is riding a bicycle around the lake. The bike road at Sun Moon Lake has been rated by CNN Travel as one of the 10 most beautiful cycling routes in the world. And that just makes you not to miss it. The price for bike renting is about 200 NTD for 2 hours (~ 32 USD).
Apart from riding a bike, you can also choose to take the ropeway to the lake to enjoy the panoramic view of Sun Moon Lake. The total area of this lake is 4 hectares. The green surface of the lake surrounded by the mountains makes it quite great. This cable car is 1.8km long, one way takes about 30 minutes. The price of a round trip cable is about NTN 300 (~ 47 USD).

Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village
From Sun Moon Lake, walking along the next area is the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village. The Cingjing Farm is also within Nantou. This is the largest sheep farm in central Taiwan, with over a hundred sheep. The farm is located on high hills with cool weather, clear sunshine. How to get to the Sun Moon Lake?
The most popular way to get to Sun Moon Lake is from Taichung.
Option 1: Take the shuttle bus
From Taichung HSR station, take the shuttle bus to Sun Moon Lake. One way ticket is about 190 NTD / pax (~ 30 USD). It takes about 2 hours to move.
Option 2: By car from Taichung to Cingjing and Sun Moon Lake

Instead of staying at Sun Moon Lake for services here, you can focus admiring the majesty of the lake and then go to Cingjing and enjoy the warm atmosphere of nature.
