Sun Moon Lake is the largest freshwater lake and also the most famous lake in Taiwan. The name is so beautiful because if you stand from the Ci’en tower look down, the east of the lake has rounded – shape like the sun, the west has curved shape like half of the moon. Thus, the name of the Sun Moon Lake was born here.

The most popular activity to discover the beauty of Sun Moon Lake is riding a bicycle around the lake. The bike road at Sun Moon Lake has been rated by CNN Travel as one of the 10 most beautiful cycling routes in the world. And that just makes you not to miss it. The price for bike renting is about 200 NTD for 2 hours (~ 32 USD).

Apart from riding a bike, you can also choose to take the ropeway to the lake to enjoy the panoramic view of Sun Moon Lake. The total area of this lake is 4 hectares. The green surface of the lake surrounded by the mountains makes it quite great. This cable car is 1.8km long, one way takes about 30 minutes. The price of a round trip cable is about NTN 300 (~ 47 USD).
