Overview architecture of the Dancing House Hotel Prague
Dancing House is a 4-star hotel, especially for those who are passionate about architecture and like the difference, even weird. The hotel – or building is an architectural masterpiece, designed by architect Vlado Milunić in collaboration with Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry on an empty lot near the waterfront (where the previous construction was destroyed in the Prague bombing in 1945). The building was designed in 1992 and completed in 1996. The building has a very non-traditional architectural style that was controversial at that time.
From the outside, Dancing House Hotel Prague ( Agoda.com or Booking.com) looks like a dancer dancing on the banks of the beautiful Vltava River. The entire exterior is made of glass, 8-storey high. The top floor is a French restaurant and balcony with 360 degree panoramic city view. Whether during the day or evening, Dancing House Hotel still appears splendid and magnificent, a check-in photo spot can not be missed when coming to Prague.
The location of Dancing House Hotel Prague
Address: Jiráskovo nám. 1981/6, 120 00 Nové Město, Czechia
Booking: You can check rates, reviews and book on Agoda.com or Booking.com.
The hotel is located just 1km from the Charles Bridge and National Museum. From here you can go to the Old Town Square only 15 minutes by Metro. Right outside there is a tram station with many routes running through, while the Karlovo náměstí Metro Station is only a 5-minute walk away.
If you want to see the panorama of Prague, in addition to climbing the high hill, you can go up to the building’s bar to see. Because it is located next to the river, the view from here must be said to be beautiful, watching all the bridges spanning the river as well as the Prague Castle. Everything becomes more magical at night.
However, because it is not located in the bustling old town, the services near the hotel are not much. Here it seems to be mainly office buildings, supermarkets, but lack of nightlife with no bars, night markets or shops. In return, the hotel already has a restaurant and a bar on the rooftop.

The room at Dancing House Hotel
My room category at Dancing House is Standard Double Room type with a city view. This room is quite basic, about 30m2 wide and has windows overlooking the streets of Prague. Since I travel during the peak summer season and I also don’t book early, so there aren’t many room options. If you book early, you should look for higher room classes such as Deluxe with river view, larger windows, or Suite class with a much more spacious.
The standard room is generally not too large but quite nice, full of amenities of a 4-star standard hotel. Everything is clean and tidy, the bed is tall and very soft. From the entrance door will pass through a hallway in the middle (like a shared hallway of a connecting room if you go with family), with a closet for shoes. It features an extremely spacious bathroom with shower, long washbasin. There is no bath tub for this Standard room class. Basically what I didn’t really like was the bedroom a bit small compared to the larger bathroom needed.

All the supplies in the room are equipped: Toiletries, brush, shampoo, toothpaste, dryer, self-catering tea and coffee, mini vault and slippers. In addtional, the welcome amenities: 2 small apples and 2 bottles of water. The entire hallway outside or in the room are covered with very thick carpets, smooth walk and feeling happy feet.
Eating and drinking services at Dancing House Hotel Prague
Although it is a 4-star hotel, but it is located in a crowded city center, so the entire building is not too large. The hotel has only one restaurant and a rooftop bar. Ginger & Fred restaurant is a French restaurant located on the 7th floor of the hotel, which serves breakfast for guests and other meals of the day.
When you booking here, the room rate includes breakfast for 2 people. Breakfast is served until 10am, quite full of necessary dishes, with a beautiful outside view.

In addition to breakfast, unfortunately the remaining meals I don’t eat in the hotel so I can’t rate anymore. However, the architecture of the restaurant looks very beautiful and eye-catching. The rooftop bar caters to both hotel guests and outside guests. As a guest staying here, I can come here for free at night (outside guests will have to buy tickets). And when you check-in, the staff will send you 2 free drink coupons for 2 people, very nice, isn’t it?
Enjoying Prague at night at the hotel rooftop bar.
In addition, I am satisfied with other services of Dancing House Hotel. I arrived in Prague early in the morning, checked in at 7:00 a.m. and there are always 2 staff members on duty. Because my room was ready at that time, they let me check in soon, too good because after a long tiring night train coming here from Budapest I was in need of rest and shower to recharge energy.
Dancing House staff are quite friendly, smiling every time they meet guests. The room is cleaned 2 times / day, so after went out in the evening, it’s clean again, neat and tidy. In fact, this building is divided into 2 separate parts, one part is the hotel and the other is the office for lease. So one thing I don’t like about Dancing House is that the glass outside of the building has a large number of numbers on it, it seems like the office hotline phone number. This reduces the aesthetic value of Dancing house, and especially when taking photos it looks ugly.
However, do not forget to take the best photos with Dancing House – this dancing building. Whether during the day or at night, the picture is very beautiful, especially in the evening with the sparkling lights of the street.
