Ha Long Bay — The context of the movie “Kong: Skull Island” from above.

The last shooting destination for the “Kong: Skull Island” movie crew in Vietnam is Ha Long Bay in northern Quang Ninh province, which is a UNESCO world heritage site twice.

In 1994, UNESCO recognized Ha Long Bay as a Natural World Heritage Site, stating that “there are no equivalent sites on the World Heritage List”. In 2012, the bay was officially recognized as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

The bay is one of Vietnam’s most visited destinations and includes 1,600 islands and islets that form a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Ha Long Bay is a popular tourist destination leading in Vietnam, a UNESCO world heritage site of aesthetic, geological and geomorphic values.

The crew has been in Halong about half of a year ago and surveyed several days on the bay. On March 16th, director Jordan Vogt – Roberts will check the sites for the last time before the shooting next day.

Ti Top Island, located in the heart of the bay, is regarded as one of the most attractive sites for both international and domestic tourists to Ha Long. Ti Top is famous for its emerald waters and white sand. Ti Top Island is 14 km to the east of Bai Chay Island.

Located between many other small islands, Ti Top island forms a beautifully living islands, where is an ideal destination for tourist boats.

Hon Trong Mai or also called as Ga Choi Islet is located in the southwestern part of Ha Long Bay, away 5 km from Bai Chay.

Ba Hang Village is a small floating village located near Thien Cung Grotto (Heaven Grotto). The village is a favorite destination for tourists who want to witness local life in the majestic bay.

Coming here, visitors not only visit fishing villages but also have a chance to kayak around caves on the bay.

Cong La- Ba Hang is about 30 kilometers from Tuan Chau Island and 20 kilometers from Hon Gai Port. It borders Cat Ba Island of Hai Phong and is a spot to shoot the Hollywood blockbuster Kong: Skull Island.
