Major shopping malls in CBD: Melbourne Central, QV, Bourke Street Mall & Emporium. Rich teammates can go to Collins Street, where centralize the many brands of expensive, genuine. For us, the CBD is the right place for “small but has martial arts”. Hiding behind the modern buildings are a dozen of tiny lanes, each lanes has something nice to explore, maybe a pretty cafe, an old bookstore or a mysterious bar. There are two most famous lanes are the Block Arcade and Royal Arcade, which sell luxury souvenirs. So if you do not like shopping then do not worry about nothing to do here.

The Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road

Traveling to Melbourne, you can not miss The Great Ocean Road – one of Australia’s most beautiful coastal roads with deep blue ocean, with its majestic and extremely impressive cliffs and the twelve apostles standing on the sea for hundreds of years despite the sun or rain. It is not natural that this 234 kilometers long road brought back to Australia nearly 2 billion dollars. On this winding road you will be experiencing innumerable levels of emotions from surprise to overwhelm, exciting, enjoyment and the end is satisfied.

This is not just a normal coastal road, throughout the length of the road, the scene will be changed, quick metamorphosis (seems a bit exaggeration but in general is very diverse, not boring). The main rout of the Great Ocean Road stretches from Torquay to Cape Otway, embracing the coast. This road also passes through many tropical forests, white sandy beaches characteristic of the South Great Ocean. In addition, you can encounter kangaroos, Australian seals or koalas, and many other cute animals.

When we were in Melbourne, one of the memories we remember was gathering friends for BBQ party. This is also the cultural characteristics of Australians on every weekend, enjoy BBQ, go anywhere you can smell aromatic of barbecue. We only have to buy cooking ingredients, usually meats, salads, water, disposable plates, aluminum foil & cooking spray (oil for BBQ). Remember to keep the clean at the public area with a layer of aluminum foil on the cookers before grill and clean the garbage after you use it!

7 days in Melbourne — What to do in Melbourne in the evening?

nightlife-in-melbourne3

In Melbourne, most shops & entertainment zones are closed after 6pm. Only restaurants, bars & movie theaters are open. But do not rush “puzzled”, you can take a walk in Docklands or South Bank, these places are very beautiful when lights up. Except in May and September, on every Wednesday night there is a Queen Victoria Night Market with street food, clothing, old books, live music and tarot readings, in general, a lot of activities, do not worry have to go home to cover the blanket from 6 pm.

A few notes before traveling to Melbourne

  • Located in the southern hemisphere, the weather in Australia is the opposite of Vietnam (when Vietnam is summer, Australia is winter and inverse), so you pay attention to choose the right clothing, it is best to check the weather before to go. The best time to visit Melbourne is from September to December and February to May, when the weather is not too hot nor too cold.
  • Melbourne weather is unpredictable, sometimes sunny but suddenly rain soon after. So, you always remember to bring an umbrella or a raincoat and a light jacket to against the weather change. In addition, Australia’s ozone depletion is not mild, ultraviolet rays can be harmful to the skin so you remember to bring sunscreen, hats and sunglasses, things you must bring when traveling Australia self-sufficient.
  • In Australia, using a 3-pin plug charger, so you will need an adapter. If available, you can bring them, otherwise you can buy them at supermarkets or 7-Eleven stores.
  • Because there is no place to exchange money from VND to AUD in Melbourne CBD so you remember to change money before you go or when you go arrives at the airport at the exchange counter.
  • In the Free Tram Zone, you can go up and down freely, but do not forget to swipe your card before boarding the train when entering the cash charge area. Unfortunately, if the police detect you smuggle, you have to pay a fine of 200 Australian dollars.
  • Top 3 applications are indispensable when travel self-sufficient in Melbourne: Google Maps, PTV (used to track the route, departure/arrival time of all public transport in Melbourne), Tram Tracker. Have these 3 “useful apps” in your phone, you can be assured, Melbourne will be like your home, don’t worry about lost road.
  • Avoid walking alone in the suburbs such as Footscray, Sunshine, St Albans, Epping, Dandenong, Craigieburn after 7pm, because they are considered less safe at night.
