Budget places to eat: Tips for cheap eating in Bangkok
As for dining in Bangkok, you have a wide range of choices from budget to luxury. From Bangkok’s travel experience; you can go to any street if you’re a casual type. Trolleys, pavement stalls, street vendors … are all kinds of delicious “street food” like grilled skewers (1 dollars/skew), grilled fish, fruit, Thai pad, son tam, …
The second option to save on food costs is foodcourt. In shopping centers like Siam Paragon, Mega Bangna, Big C, Platinum… there are foodcourt restaurants at very low prices. Enjoy shopping and eating without having to travel far away.
And if you want to experience more popular, you can go to the famous food street in Bangkok (most only open from late afternoon to midnight):
- Sukhumvit Soi 38: BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit route, stop at Thong Lo station, exit 4.
- Yaowarat: Take the MRT to Hua Lamphong Station, then walk to Chinatown about 1 km.
- Phetchaburi Soi 5: BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit, stop at Ratchathewi station, out of the exit 3, then cross Phetchaburi Road and ask for a way to Soi 5.
Eating buffet
Eating buffet has the advantage that you can try many dishes without spending too much money. If your wallet is a little bit better, then according to our Bangkok travel experience, you should choose the buffet. The advantage of this type is that you try different foods at the same time. It is easy to find Korean, Japanese and seafood buffet restaurants around Bangkok, priced at 9, 10 dollars or more per meal.
Eating in a luxury way
Traveling to Bangkok to enjoy authentic Bangkok cuisine is a must thing. Luxury restaurants in Siam are always waiting for you. Alternatively, try the 5-star hotel’s Red Sofitel, or Bangkok’s Vertigo and Moon Bar. The cost of a meal here can be around 30 dollars and higher, but the experience gained is invaluable.
If you would like to have more unique culinary experiences, you can also choose to party on Chao Phraya River cruises like Chao Phraya Princess Cruise, Manohra, White Orchid, Wonderful Pearl. Yachts serve traditional dishes, mixed with special art performances of the Golden Temple.
