Volando Urai Hot Spring review — The fullest review hot spring bath at Volando Urai Hot Spring Resort & Spa in Taipei

Kurhaus benefits are pretty fancy: hot/cool bathtubs, a massage bathtub, an herbal bathtub, a sauna room and a rest area divided into two separate rooms for male and female guests.

Another thing to keep in mind is that children under 12 years old are not allowed to enter this area due to safety reasons.

For someone who is not aware of this, it is really common in Taiwan that if your neighbors are upset about something, instead of knocking your door to discuss about their issue, they will call the police for solution.

+ Private bath – Private room for 2-3 people: Depends on room and service types. Summer price ranges from 980TWD/room (Grand View Bathhouse) to 5,000TWD/room (in-room hot spring Grand View Room)

• Book a meal or afternoon tea set at the restaurant: 580TWD/set for fancy afternoon tea and 2,500TWD/set for fancy dinner.
• Book spa service (massage and sauna services): there are 8 different service packages. Depending on the therapy package, the price is diverse but in general, it is rather expensive ranging from 3,600TWD/package to 5,900TWD/package, between 90 to 120 minutes. (faint the second time)

However, and of course, we use the voucher on Klook, only 1,500TWD for Grandview Bathhouse + Afternoon tea set for 2 people, cheaper than buying on site nearly 500TWD. That day, we went in a group of 3 people, so we upgraded to the Grand view room for 3 people and add more 600TWD/person, and did not add the set meal, so we ate 2 servings of tea together.

You should take a look at the service costs and purchase in advance on Urai website here. It is said that children under 130cm won’t be charged. After making a reservation, you will receive a confirmation email. Print out and bring it with you to the resort for check-in.

Volando Urai Spring Spa & Resort review: Our hot spring bath experience at Urai

After 30 minutes standing continuously on the bus, we got off, crossed the road and walked for another 100 meters to arrive at the resort. There is another luxurious resort nearby, but it probably costs you a few hundred dollars/room/night. Remember to read the name sign because Urai is situated a few hundred meters away from this resort.

Entering the resort, we felt like coming into a different world. From the outside, it looks like an ordinary place, however, the interior design is pretty luxurious. Especially, one side of the building is next to a small river while on the other side, there is a mountain where trekkers are usually climb up to admire the spectacular view. Such a wonderful sight of nature!

After that, we reached the reception desk and presented the printed email confirmation that we already made reservation at the resort. The receptionists here are really friendly and able to communicate in English. We made a request to upgrade from a 2-guest room to a 3-guest room for an extra charge of 600TWD (while the website indicates a fee of 630TWD). We waited for about 5 minutes for them to prepare the room. When the room is ready, they came and lead us to our room.

The room looks like an ordinary hotel room with a glass wall on one side (blinded from the outside so only you can look through it from the inside), looking out to view the river (this detail will be repeated over and over again). There are beds, bathroom and other amenities just like a normal hotel room would have. In addition, there are 2 bathtubs that deliver hot spring water directly from the underground water source, a hot-water bathtub and a cool-water bathtub.

First, we were confused about which bathtub to use in the beginning, so we make a phone call to ask using the internal phone in the room. It turned out that we should enter the cool bathtub first and then slowly move to the hot bathtub to get used to the temperature of the water.

We took a quick shower to cleanse ourselves first. Shower gel and shampoo are provided. After cleaning up, we moved to the cool bathtub and stayed there for about 2 minutes. Then, we slowly entered the hot bathtub.

The hot spring water is extremely hot, so we mixed a little cool water to lower the temperature. After that, we slowly put out feet into the water and kept them there to get used to the high temperature. Then, we slowly sat down and enjoyed the bath.

It is definitely worth it. When our bodies got acquainted, it felt like we were floating upon the surface of the water. Of course, we took naked bath since we are all close friends and there is nothing to be embarrassed about.

There are a couple of massage buttons in the bathtub that control the water flows. You will feel a bit ticklish if turning up the water flow.

 

Note: You should only take a bath for 15 minutes because longer bath is not good for your health.

After 15 minutes, feeling satisfied of the hot spring bath, we got out of the bathtub and took a shower. Then, we got on the beds to take a nap for another 15 minutes. When waking up, we felt totally refreshed and all the exhaustion from the long bus ride has completely gone. We gathered ourselves and took out the afternoon tea voucher we had purchased to the restaurant for our fancy tea party.

The restaurant is pretty, surrounded by glass walls with the trees right outside, making a nice shadow over the awning. The overall atmosphere of this spa is green and relaxing. At the restaurant, since there were 3 of us and we only had a voucher for 2, we ordered an extra refresher.

The afternoon tea set includes 9 types of little tiny treats and a pot of tea with the flavor up to your selection. We finished bathing at around 3:30 P.M., so the tea set was perfect for us because we felt kind of hungry but it was not time for dinner yet. Three people having a tea set for 2 was not really satisfying. Otherwise, if coming here during lunch or dinnertime, you can book lunch or dinner set at the combo price for hot spring + meal of approximately 2,900TWD/2 people. The dinner seems to be exquisite but the serving size is a little under our demand, so if your have a rather large appetite like us, think it twice.

One other thing to note that this restaurant is a perfect place for selfies and photos. It is also a recommended place for couples and newlyweds to spend their honeymoons. We had taken thousands of photos here (which will not be shared since we are not so confident of out appearance). After the decent afternoon tea party, we took off and said goodbye to the short hair friendly receptionist with a big smile on our faces.

Our way back was exactly similar to the previous route we took. You can book the shuttle or take the bus number 849 to return to MRT Xiandian. Our way back took us shorter time, just about 25 minutes.

Bonus: On the way back to the city by MRT, if loving the San Ma stinky tofu (三媽臭臭鍋), you can stop at the MRT Jingmei Station and take the Exit 2 to find this restaurant on the left hand side of the gate. Their best specialty dish is Stinky tofu hotpot with intestine (大腸臭臭鍋) and kimchi hotpot (泡菜火鍋) with an affordable price of only 120TWD/hotpot.
