When you come to Tuscany, you definitely must-stay at a beautiful farmstay in this region. Yes, I am talking about Podere Salicotto (Podere Salicotto Tuscany), one of the best countryside villas near the historical Medieval town of Buonconvento in the legendary land of Tuscany. Here is my detailed review. If you like, you can choose this place to stay and experience the countryside life in the paradise land of Tuscany on your upcoming trip.

Tuscany has long been famous for its romantic, poetic, tranquil land with endless rolling hills, immense grasslands, towering typical cypress trees, vineyards, picturesque Medieval towns, stone castles… Along the poetic swathe of Tuscany are vast countrysides with numerous private farms. Each farm is hectare wide with quite similar architectural style. Houses are built of red bricks or can be called separate villas. I spent a whole week to choose for my family a best place to stay which is Podere Salicotto’s farmstay (a type of Airbnb). This is a charming Bed & Breakfast farm near the beautiful town of Buonconvento and halfway between the rolling hills of Siena, Crete Senesi and one of the most beautiful land of Tuscany is Val d’Orcia.

Why I choose Podere Salicotto for my stay, I simply feel it is the most beautiful. This farm has a very beautiful private swimming pool, the surrounding space is also very open, airy and spacious, the view to the surrounding must be said to be “Breathtaking”! Especially, the rooms in the villas just look at the photos and you are already enchanted, from the tables and chairs, the bed and there are many windows with beautiful views from the room. If you want to stay here, you should book early, because they don’t have many rooms and the resort is always hot.

If you look at the map, the Podere Salicotto is a large farm isolated from the surrounding areas. The nearest neighbor’s house is also a few hundred meters to a kilometer away. The entrance gate has a sign saying “Welcome to Podere Salicotto”, each guest who book a room here will provide a private key to the gate, park a few meters in front and press the control button to open the gate.

The road from the gate to the villa is a long road with two rows of cypress trees (typical tree in Tuscany) on both sides, looking very sexy. The private parking for guests is a large enough open space. Before we arrived, we had an appointment with the landlady – Silvia. Silvia was waiting to open the door for us. After driving to the villa area, meet to check in and then driving the car to the parking lot.

Silvia took us on a tour of the farm, introducing the rooms and facilities, the rules of the resort. The owner is quite old, their family lives here with some workers. The two owners are also very love to traveling, and their children seem to have grown up and live elsewhere. The information Silvia gave me was very helpful, she showed me the sights around Buonconvento, the town, the vineyards and wine tasting.

In the room there was also a catalog introducing the farm, the delicious restaurants in the area and routes that could help you planning a roadtrip perfectly. In general, coming here you has to take a break for 5-7 days to fully experience countryside lifestyle here, the air is super fresh, quiet and completely separate from the outside world. If the Maldives is a sea paradise, then Tuscany is like a paradise in the countryside.

Review Podere Salicotto villa’s room

The room I stayed in was quite large, located on the 2nd floor of a villa. The whole farm area probably has only 2 villas for rent, each floor has 2 rooms. The interior of the room is very elegant, with a bit of antiquity, full of everything needed like at home. The wood-roofed ceiling and red brick walls that match this Tuscan color scheme. The room is equipped with air conditioning, but it is usually not used, because the weather here is cool all year round.

Staying in Podere Salicotto’s house, I felt like living in a real Italian family’s house, from the surroundings to the furniture in the room. Due to being on the 2nd floor and the room has 2 windows on both sides, the view is not blocked, the view from here to the outside is wonderful. In the distance are the green lawns of the “authentic” Tuscany, a place I once dreamed of going to many years ago.

Not only has the beautiful room, Podere Salicotto’s farm is also very large to be able to participate in many activities during the day. The large swimming pool with direct view to the infinity hillsides. Along the road in the farm, there are evenly spaced rows of trees, and even stone benches to relaxing, reading books, enjoying tea.

Breakfast here will be served at a small corner behind the house. Nice little space and lots of trees surround. The food is prepared for breakfast quite carefully, enough for the needs of the majority of diners. There is a wide variety of breads, cereals, fresh fruit and cold cuts.

The guests who stay here mainly come with their families, they may be people from other regions of Italy, or other countries located in other European regions. Most of them also take self-driving cars to visit the whole Tuscany region, in addition to resting on the farm, families take their children on a day tour to other countrysides in the region.
