Arriving at the Vatican, I was not too surprised to see thousands of people lining up to visit here, because the Vatican is a city recognized as the smallest sovereign state in the world but contains many cultural values and mysterious, surprising things.

Looking from above, the majestic and magnificent St. Peter’s Square appears with a design that embraces the tomb of St. Peter. Vatican City with its dome architecture, columns, and corridors reminds me of the detective and chase scenes in Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons. To go up to the dome of the same-named Holy See to see the whole view, visitors must buy a ticket for 8-10 euros/trip. The road up is quite narrow and crowded, so you should prepare drinks and fast food because the visit time is quite long and there is a lot of walking.
The Vatican Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has 12 galleries and 5 corridors divided into 25 sub-categories preserving masterpieces by Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci… and a collection of Roman, Greek and Egyptian civilizations. When you come here, don’t forget to visit the Sistine Chapel where the ceiling and walls preserve the two paintings “Genesis” and “The Last Judgment” by Michelangelo.
In addition to the masterpieces of Renaissance art, the museum also attracts visitors with its ancient architecture with a spiral staircase designed by Giuseppe Momo in 1932, endless curved arches decorated with hundreds of elaborate and magnificent paintings.
Located in Viale Vaticano (Rome), the museum attracts a large number of tourists and pilgrims from all over the world to come here to explore the priceless art treasures that many generations of Popes have created over the centuries. Visitors who love research can spend a whole day here. The place is closed on Sundays.
When coming to the Vatican, St. Peter’s Basilica is a place not to be missed. The structure is shaped like a cross 213 m long, the widest point is up to 137 m, with a total area of nearly 1,700 m2. The interior of the Basilica exudes splendor and grandeur down to the smallest details.
When mentioning the architecture of St. Peter’s Basilica, we cannot fail to mention the unique dome, decorated with patterns and reliefs made of marble carved with sophistication, which enhances the grandeur and magnificence of the building, leaving a deep impression on me.
When coming to the Vatican, visitors can easily meet “The Swiss Guard” – the Swiss Guard. In colorful Renaissance-style uniforms, they began protecting the Pope in 1506. This army regularly patrols and carefully guards the entire Vatican City. They are well-trained, strong, disciplined and are good shooters. Of course, the members of the team are all Swiss.
In the afternoon, I spent time walking around the riverside watching the sunset with flocks of seagulls circling and casting shadows on the ancient buildings. Located in the heart of Rome, visitors can combine exploring many other famous places next to the Vatican such as the Roman Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Castillo Sant’Anglelo castle…
