Located at the foot of Hallasan Mountain on Jeju Island, Seongeup Folk Village is a small ancient village that contains a great culture. The cultural traditions in the village have been passed down from generation to generation, including treasures such as stone houses, Confucian temples and schools, government offices, stone statues, millstones, fortress and other stone relics.
A special feature of these houses is that the wooden latches of the front main door bring the owner’s own message of their presence: There are 3 horizontal latches – I’m away for a few days; There are 2 latches – I’m away from morning to afternoon; 1 latch – Having children in the house, I’ll be back soon.
