How to choose Maldives resort? Some criteria to find and choose a beautiful and affordable resort
- The resort must have a beautiful and unique design floating villa system (also called water villa). Seen from above the resort like an island with a villa system jutting out into the middle of the sea creates a very majestic and stunning image.
- The resort must have long, fine sandy beaches, blue clear water beaches, especially the beauty of the resort not only created by the Water Villa system, but also envisioned as a giant sandbank as a characteristic of Maldives paradise.
- Resort must have good service quality, with good, very good, excellent, superd or exceptional reviews and ratings on Booking.com or Agoda.com, affordable transfer service fee from the airport, rich flora and fauna systems and have various tours and activities.
However, the first priority criteria is still the beauty of the resort, and about the quality of service , you can rest assured because when you traveling in Maldives whether you stay in a small hotel, they still serve you as good as in 5 star hotels. I will classify resorts by distance to the capital of Malé because the close or far distance will affect the cost of traveling to the resort, and a part for super high-end resorts, because once you have determined find a luxurious resort for your vacation, the transport service fee is no longer a problem for you.
Best budget resorts in Maldives: The resorts near Male capital city
This is a pretty good option because the price is not too expensive ($150-200/night), the travel cost from the airport to the resort is cheap at $100-150/person. The downside of these resorts is not very beautiful. There are also some beautiful resorts near Male capital but the price is super expensive (about $500/night or more).
Here are some best affordable Maldives resorts and travel costs as well (the price listed here is not at the peak time, in the peak season from December onwards, the price is very high).
Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa
Sheraton Resort in Maldives is true to the style of this 5-star hotel system worldwide, which is designed with a combination of tradition and modernity. Seen from above, the resort is located on this private island called Furanafushi like a giant guitar, like musical melodies that go deep into the soul through natural landscapes and lush gardens. Compared to other resorts such as Bandos or Kurumba, the Sheraton is much nicer, but seems to be weaker in terms of the diversity of coral reefs around the island.
Facilities on the island are also full with a variety of restaurants with a variety of culinary styles, many playing areas for people who like sports. There are also 7 dining options, a swimming pool and outdoor yoga class with free drinks at the fitness center. Water sports activities and a diving center are also available. Island services and tours with very high admission fees but in return for things like snorkeling items, paddle, or kayak are all free.
Cheapest room rates: $366/night; speedboat transfer price: $ 136/person/round trip.
Room type: 5; total rooms: 176; distance to Male: 7 km
A top rated 5-star resort, you can check rates, reviews and book on Agoda.com or Booking.com.
Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi
This is the resort I plan to book for my first Maldives trip if not attracted from the Olhuveli resort, because it satisfies quite well the requirements for room rates, travel fees as well as a pretty Water Villa range. This is a resort located in the north of the capital Male, 30 minutes ride by speedboat.
Adaaran with full facilities for a luxurious vacation such as Ocean Villa room, outdoor pool, private beach and tennis court. The resort has a large main island and two small islands like two beautiful sandbank with fine white sandy beaches, a long row of villas jutting out straight to the sea. The flora here is also very diverse with the lush green palm trees combines with a variety of tropical plants and animals and rich flora. But the most outstanding thing in Adaaran is surfing, this activity is very popular with tourists and is scored very high on booking websites.
I highly recommend that you choose this resort first in the segment of the best price resorts in Maldives (best place to stay in maldives on a budget, where to stay in maldives which island is best). It is really a resort with scenery as well as sea villas that are beautifully built no less than other luxury resorts. These villas extend straight to the sea with rooms made of wood and leaf roofs on the outside creating a sense of luxury and coolness. One disadvantage of this resort is that there are not many beautiful coral reefs around for those who love snorkeling and watching coral.
Note: Some reviews complain that the interior of the room is quite old, so if you need any item, don’t be hesitate to ask the resort to provide it. The coral here is quite sharp so you need to wear your beach shoes (water shoes) to avoid getting hurt when stepping on them. And remember that you will have to pay money to use the internet here.
The cheapest room rate (garden room): $172/night; speedboat transfer price: $135/person/round trip.
Room type: 3; number of rooms: 178; distance to Male: 19km
A top rated 4-star resort, you can check rates, reviews and book on Agoda.com or Booking.com.
Bandos Island Resort & Spa
Bandos is a quite famous resort and has been chosen by many tourists as well as backpackers because it has the best affordable room rates as well as easy to access (low speedboat fee), service style also highly appreciated. When I planned to book a room here but near the departure date, the resort almost did not have an available room, it was very hot.
The disadvantage of Bandos is that it does not have a Water Villa area like other resorts, but in return it has an excellent lush vegetation eco system that is suitable for snorkeling, pearl white sand beaches blend with the turquoise of the sea water makes us feel like an intersection of heaven and earth, peace and tranquility. The huge available coral reefs surrounding the resort will help you have an unforgettable experience when you participating in scuba diving activities here.
A small note for those who booked Beach Villa is that windows must always be covered with blinds because it is designed without privacy, so the activities in the room are easy to get into the photos of other travelers who moving on the opposite jetty.
