Seongeup Folk Village
This is a traditional conservation village on Jeju Island, which recreated the lives of Korean people centuries ago. A small secret, this village is the setting of the famous historical film Dae Jang Geum of the land of kimchi. Seongeup folk village is one of best places to visit in Jeju island, this is considered a live museum in Jeju.
With a total of 117 houses, Jeju Folk Village has restored the village’s scenery in 1890. Including Village Mountain, Hill-Country Village, Fishing Village and Shamanism Village. Around the houses there are also auxiliary works such as kitchen, vegetable garden, animal shed or jars of poor people.
It was rebuilt after the research and analysis of experts. The houses here are built from volcanic lava rock, the roof is covered with grass, is a tourist attraction, where you can discover the customs of the past. The walls of the houses here are about 50 centimeters high and are built with stones, the strange thing is that no houses have gates (lock), this is also a special feature of Jeju in the past.
