Bangkok is like other big Asian cities like Singapore, Hong Kong has many spectacular rooftop bars (sky bars on high-rise buildings). When traveling to this city, you should go to the sky bar once because of the shimmering, magnificent scenery of this city when the night falls. There are quite a few rooftop bars in Bangkok like the Vertigo and Moon Bar on the Banyan Tree Bangkok Hotel, the Octave rooftop bar at the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit, but on my last trip I chose Sky Bar – Lebua because this is a very famous rooftop bar that looking down to the legendary river of Chao Phraya, a 360-degree view of the city and drinks at an equally luxurious price. Lebua Sky Bar review: The location of Sky Bar Lebua Bangkok (Sky Bar Lebua Tower Bangkok)
Located on the 64th floor of the building – The Dome Hotel at Lebua State Tower, the Sky Bar Bangkok is one of the highest bars in the world and was once set as the setting for the famous movie The Hangover II. Before the trip, I also researched this bar quite carefully, see the reviews on Tripadvisor, they all have the same comment: Beautiful view, but the drinks are too expensive.
To get to the Sky Bar Rooftop Lebua Bangkok is very simple, you can take a taxi or songthaew to Lebua State Tower located at the end of Silom Road near Chao Phraya River. If you take BTS, you go to Saphan Taksin station (or you can take the Chao Phraya river boat to Sathorn pier) then walk 5 minutes to come. Upon arrival, you stepping inside the building, to the elevator area, there will be Sky Bar staff available to pick up and go with you to the 64th floor. Then, there will be a few beautiful young waiters welcome you right at the elevator to guide and check have you dressed properly yet.
Sky Bar Lebua Dress Code
The Sky Bar Lebua Bangkok is a luxurious and polite place so they also have a very strict dress code. Although I already knew this, but when I got up here I was still subjective, I wore a pair of short knee-length shorts and was gently explained by the beautiful receptionist and invited .. home to change clothes (request wearing long pants). Although I tried to explain, she still refused to let me in, so I had to go downstairs to find a shop selling clothes (actually a Chinese market) to buy a temporary long pants, bargain from 350B to 250B.
Dress code to go to the Sky Bar is not to wear slippers, flip-flops (sandals are acceptable), sportswear, shorts are not allowed. For women, it’s ok to wear knee-length skirts. Another thing is if you bring a large backpack they not allow to bring to the bar or those who want to take pictures with a tripod, they also require to send it at the front desk.
When you reach the 64th floor, you will find a large restaurant, called Sirocco, if you want to dining here, you usually have to reserve a table. Going left and you will head out to the rooftop bar – Sky Bar – which offers a panoramic view of the city. The Sky Bar seems to be divided into 3 separate areas, a small area with live music band, an area right next to the entrance and a step down area with the bar. The area below, you can sit at a table or stand by the bar and order a drink. Usually they only allow to take pictures in the entrance area.
Sky Bar Lebua Bangkok Price
The cheapest drink here is Mineral Water at 150B without tax (7% tax and 10% service charge), juices or smoothies of about 350B without tax and fee, beer is about 400 – 500B. In addition, all kinds of wines and cocktails are found in thousand Baht. We choose a bottle of water and a glass of watermelon juice, drink and feel so cool, mainly relax and watching the city view from above.
On a side note, the wind here is very strong, it feels like it could be blown away at any moment. Especially in the area near the entrance when I stood to take pictures, there were a few next tables, the staff who had to run out to help the guests because the tables fell, as long as the guest brought a glass of water away from the table for a minute without notice, the table will be fallen.
Lebua Sky Bar review: Overall feeling of Sky Bar Lebua Bangkok
The first thing is that the guests who come up here are very crowded, the reserved-tables are always full and the standing areas like the bar and near the entrance sometimes I can not take photos because too crowded of guests stand too close to the railing. There are always a few polite staff members standing up to remind guests like bodyguards, feeling not very natural, perhaps they want to avoid the guests coming up with the main purpose of taking photos like me that affect the comfort of other customers who spend a lot of money.
I noticed that quite a lot of customers who came up here did not order any drinks, the staff asked to order they also ignored and after a while enjoying the wonderful scenery, they went down, so whoever wants to come here for free is possible, just need to “shameless” a little bit! ^ – ^.
From the Sky Bar you can see the panoramic view of Bangkok, especially at sunset and when the city lights up, it is just as sparkling as any modern city in the world. Right below is the Taksin Bridge spanning the Chao Phraya River, Bangkok’s lifeline. When you come here, feel free to take a photo to check-in Instagram or Facebook, most of the guests coming here are boys and girls, the Westerners also come here mainly take selfies and check-in!
The area around the Sky Bar Lebua Tower Bangkok
In fact, the area around Sky Bar is mainly large hotels such as Shangri La, Grand Sathorn, … but not many dining areas, markets and bustling shopping malls like Platinum, Siam, .. Right at the feet of Sky Bar has a number of small alleys selling street food, but not much, it is okay to eat. If you come here, note that every Monday they will close for cleaning, there is no food stall opening. Trying hard to going a little further about 200m to the foot of Taksin Bridge where many eateries are open all day. In addition, if you are a shopping lover can go through a small market that I rushed to buy a long pants to access the Sky Bar, it is located on the nearby Si Wang Road.
