Today, Kinkaku-ji is privately owned. In 1397, the temple was acquired by Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu and after his death, the temple was handed over to his son. In the middle of the 13th century, the hall of the complex area was destroyed by fire. In 1950, this hall was restored by a monk. Opening time to Golden Temple: from 9 am – 5pm.
