Tainan itinerary 2 days: How to get to Tainan?

Tainan is located between Taipei and Kaohsiung, so there are many ways to go to this city.

+ Bus / train: From Taipei to Tainan by bus and train will take 3 to 5 hours, sitting will be a little tired! The train ticket price from Taipei – Tainan about 700NT$, bus (500NT$ – 700NT$), depending on each bus company.

Tainan itinerary 2 days: What to see, things to do for 2 days in Tainan

Although there is no MRT system, Tainan still has other means of transport such as buses, trains and taxis that are very convenient for self-sufficient travelers. The most convenient way to travel is to hire a motorbike to traveling and getting around, but you need a Taiwan driver’s license to rent, the rental price is about 400NT$ / day (not including gasoline). Otherwise the bus is the most reasonable way. Buses in Tainan are very punctual and cheap, even if you go around the city, you do not have to pay.

Tainan itinerary — Day 1: Chimei Museum – Tainan Confucius Temple – Chihkan Tower (#2 days in tainan)

Because from the HSR station, there is a free bus H31 that going straight to the Chimei Museum, so we start the journey from here for convenience.

Chimei Museum

Dubbed as one of the most beautiful European art museums in Asia, the Chimei Museum impresses visitors with its large campus, luxurious European architecture, and from far it look like the residence of the president of the United States – the White House. In front of the museum is the Apollo Fountain (Apollo Fountain Plaza) – the God of light, truth and art in Greek mythology. Pass the Apollo fountain, is a white bridge – Olympus Bridge is decorated with statues of 12 Greek gods.

With a large campus, lake, lawn, this place is extremely suitable for family picnic at the weekends. The museum displays many famous artworks, you can admire the armor of the warriors from the Middle Ages (Medieval period) to the paintings of famous authors in the Renaissance. Not to mention the gallery of musical instruments from around the world. Unfortunately, visitors are not allowed to take pictures in the museum. However, if you are an art lover, and want to learn about classical European art, this is truly a destination not to be missed.

Confucius Temple – Pan Gao Stone Arch

Like the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, the Confucian Temple was the first university in Taiwan. It is considered one of the most important religious monuments in Taiwan, with an architectural complex built in the 17th century. The temple has been restored many times, so the appearance that visitors see today mostly are buildings built in the beginning of the last century.

The Taiwanese believe that the students before the exam to come here to try one’s luck and written wishes written on paper and then hanging in the temple, will be lucky. This is similar to the belief that rubs the head of turtle to try one’s luck in Vietnam.

The Confucian Temple is opposite the Pan Gao Stone Arch (South Road Gate). Just out of the gate and looking to the opposite of the road, it is easy to find a large stone gate dating back to the 18th century. Stepping through this ancient stone gate is a eating street. It sounds look like the miracle door of Doraemon. As a miniature student market, this pretty street has everything from souvenir stalls to vintage-style cafes, clothing shops and even some street food stalls to make satisfying for visitors.
