Kaiton Pratunam — The best chicken rice stall in Bangkok

There are lots of people lined up at the 20-year-old chicken rice stall in Bangkok. Soft and greasy chicken meat dotted with special sauce will surely make you feel satisfied despite having to wait for long to get a vacant seat.

Kaiton Pratunam is located beside the corner of Phetchaburi road, in the heart of Bangkok City, and was eclipsed by the above street, but it can be easily recognizable thanks to the pink uniforms of the staffs.

Usually, you have to queue for 15-30 minutes to wait for a vacant table. The owner even set up a few tables on the sidewalk to serve all the needs of customers.

Despite being a local stall, this chicken rice stall has a fence so as to people line up orderly, and to leave space for people to walk. Most people do not complain because they are excited to wait for such tasty chicken rice of Thailand!

The main dish here is the Hainanese chicken rice. One portion consists of a small rice cup, boiled chicken, chicken broth and sauce with the price of 40 baht (about 1 dollar). The stall has become one of the best places to eat chicken rice thanks to soft but not friable chicken, fatty chicken skin, fragrant rice.

The highlight of the dish is the soy sauce mixed with Chinese black vinegar, added a little ginger and the green pepper. Here are tips to help you eat greasy chicken without feeling oily.

The side dish soup is simply chicken broth, you can add a little salt to make it tastier.

Besides the Hainanese chicken rice, chicken bone soup is also favored by many customers. Its name is chicken soup bone, but this dish is still served with lots of chicken meat.

Boiled chicken gizzards and livers are also popular. Crispy, chewy chicken gizzards, fleshy chicken liver are eaten with soy sauce. Small plate costs 60 baht (about 1,5 dollars), large plate costs 120 baht ( about 3,5 dollars).

The stall also serves a variety of characteristic drinks of Thailand, typically, Thai milk tea costs 20 baht (only 0,5 dollars). The food is delicious and the price is cheap, don’t hesitate to come to this stall to experience a different kind of chicken rice.

Although there is no air conditioner but thanks to the open space, you will not feel too hot even the stall is always full of customers.

Kaiton Pratunam Chicken Rice stall is conveniently located across the road from Platinum Fashion Mall. You look for the lane named Petchaburi Soi 30. It is easy for you to find this chicken rice stall as there are a plenty of people waiting in line and the pink uniforms of the staff.

Note: There is no place to cross the road in the front of Kaiton Pratunam. If you walk to the stall, you have to be careful of vehicles. Because it is located right in the center, near the market and major commercial centers so the street is always crowded. The best choice is to get to the stall is by tuk-tuk, you can avoid traffic jams during peak hours.
