I got up very early at around 4am to climb to the top of the mountain on the Phi Phi island, with viewpoints 1,2,3 according to each height of the mountain to look down to see the whole island. Ticket to here is 30B/person, pay 1 time and you can go all 3 viewpoints, but climbing is quite tiring.

After went down from the mountain, we wandered for a while and found a place breakfast then returned to the hotel to check-out, send my baggage and strolling around the island’s neighborhoods and relax at the beach. It also sells a variety of tours to neighboring islands and to other island’s beaches that are only accessible by Long Tail boat. The islands can be named as Monkey Bay, Long beach, Maya Bay, Bamboo Island… But I did not go because early afternoon we have to back to the mainland, when getting to Ao Nang, we will buy an island tour there for convenient.
In the afternoon, at around 1:30PM, I got on the speedboat to get back to Krabi, because before the trip, I found out there was no ticket from Phi Phi – Ao Nang (I stayed in Ao Nang), but now on the island I saw a boat directly to Ao Nang for 300B/way/2 trips/day. After get back to Krabi, I took a taxi for 300 Baht to get to Ao Nang, do not listen to some “guys” invite right at the pier when they ask you have to buy a bus ticket for 150 baht/person, go straight to the pier hall, you will see many minibus there with 100 baht/person or take a taxi.
Arriving in Ao Nang, I check-in at Blue Sky Guest House hotel (980 Baht/2 nights), rent a motorbike (very cheap, only 150 baht/day) then rode to the nearby beach and then driving around the beach and have dinner in Ao Nang area. This area is large and extremely bustling. The Guesthouse Blue Sky is not located in the center area so it’s a bit deserted and bored. However, when coming to Krabi, you definitely have to rent a motorbike to getting around, from this guesthouse to Ao Nang beach it only takes 5 minutes by motorbike. If you want to walk around the bustling streets at night, it is more convenient to rent a room in the central area or Ao Nang beach.
8 days in Thailand: Day 4: Krabi 4 Islands Day Tour
Take a Krabi 4 Islands Day Tour, cost 400 baht/person pick up the hotel, the average price is 500B but I can bargain, ask the tour at my hotel. In addition, each person must pay an additional 200B for the 4 island entrance fee and 10B for cleaning fee. 4 islands included in the tour package are Chicken Island, Tup Island, Poda Island, Phranang cave, Railey beach. If you want to book in advance for peace of mind, you should book this tour through this very prestigious website: klook.com, the tour price through this website is also quite cheaper than the usual price but many people use the service with highly recommended.
The islands here are generally fine, as beautiful as islands in Vietnam, but very clean and without rubbish, snorkeling is also extremely fun. In Thailand, when you access an island, you always have to pay a fee for sanitation or environment, but not much. The islands included in the tour:
- Phra Nang Cave Beach – Located on Railay peninsula, the most beautiful beach is Railay beach with fine white sand that Western guests often rent rooms here.
- Poda Island – An outstanding with a large rock in the sea (like Ha Long Bay) as a symbol of the sea here.
- Chicken Island – An island resembling a chicken.
- Koh Tup and Koh Mor – This beautiful island consists of 2 small islets connected by fine white sand, clear sea water with characteristic emerald green color.
Tour lasts from 9am – 3pm, with snorkeling equipment, fruit, drinks and lunch. In the afternoon, they also have a car to take you to the hotel. At night, take a motorbike again to drive around streets and the beach, enjoy street food as good as Bangkok.
Thailand itinerary 8 days — Day 5: Ao Nang, Krabi Town
Get up in the morning to check-out the hotel, send the baggage and then take a motorbike to get to Krabi town. Krabi town is quite peaceful, everyday life is slow. I eat breakfast here too, there are some quite strange dishes compare with Bangkok or Ao Nang. The hotel here is cheaper than in Ao Nang, if you like it, you can rent a room in Krabi because you always have to rent a motorbike to get to other places, while taking a tour, the tour company will usually pick you up at the hotel even if you stay in Krabi or Ao Nang.
In the afternoon, I wandered around Ao Nang for a while and then took the luggage to the bus station to return to Bangkok. We took a minibus (the type of minivan similar in Vietnam but the storage compartment behind is used as seats for guests) to get to Krabi bus station only 60B/person, while take a taxi costs 400-500B.
The nightbus from Krabi to Bangkok is quite comfortable, my trip runs from 4:30 pm and arrived Bangkok at around 5am next morning. On the bus they also served snacks including cakes vs milk, drinking water, warm blankets. Around 10 o’clock at night they give a free salty meal, the ticket price is 600B/person, tickets can be booked here: https://12go.asia/ or bought at the hotel is the same price.
8 days in Thailand — Day 6: Bangkok – Sky Bar Lebua
5:40AM: Arrived in Bangkok, the bus dropped off at Mochit station first then continue to the final destination at Southern Terminal. We got off at Mochit station, took BTS nearby and went straight to Saphaipae Hostel (Agoda.com or Booking.com) nearby Surasat station, about 5 minutes walk. The room is quite nice, full of standard amenities like 2 bottles of drinking water per day, with refrigerator, dryer, price 1500B/2 nights including breakfast (breakfast is very full and delicious). The lobby is very large with a full range of games, free internet access computers, books and tourist information, no less than the hostels that I have experienced in Europe.
Since I arrived quite early, I left my baggage at the hostel and went out. Take the BTS to Pratunam market takes 1 train change (still BTS) to Chit Lom station, then walk through Central World to reach the market. Pratunam Market mainly sells electronics, popular goods, clothes, … then accross the road to visit Platinum shopping mall. Lunch on Platinum 6th floor, get a free card and top-up about 100-200B to order food, after eating, return the card, they will cash back if still remains money in the card.
Around 4pm, go back to the hostel, checked-in and take a bath and prepare to go to the Sky Bar – Lebua. In addition, at this Sky Bar, drinks are extremely expensive, cocktails are all charged thousand baht, and there are strict requirements on dress code. If you want to come up here, you should pay attention to wear long pants, do not wear slippers, if you want to take pictures, the tripod should be placed outside area, not allow to bring to the bar area. But it must be said that the view here is super beautiful, especially the view of Bangkok at night, watching the sunset overlooking the Taksin Bridge below. If you have enough money can be booked a room here, the Lebua at State Tower hotel is rated 5 stars.
We have had a very detail review of Sky Bar here: Experience one of the best rooftop bars at Sirocco & Sky Bar Lebua Bangkok.
Thailand itinerary 8 days — Day 7: Chinatown – Khao San Road
Have morning buffet at the hostel, dishes are varied and quite delicious. Then we walked to the Chao Phraya River which has the Sathorn Pier (Taksin) to buy boat tickets, which takes about 10 minutes on foot. Initially, we planned to go to Asiatique, but heard that should go in the evening when the night market open will more fun, so changed my mind to go to Rachawong station to go to China Town. Boat ticket price is 40 Baht/person/way, go anywhere you want (like Waterbus on the river).
Strolling around Chinatown to visit, go to the market to see and explore until the afternoon, here only eat and eat, mainly Chinese goods. This Chinatown has a block of streets selling all kinds of shoes, cheap and beautiful, but only wholesale. After that we took Tuk-tuk to Khao San street, West street and always a very bustling place at anytime. There is also market here and I found that the prices of goods are quite cheap, and buying at wholesale is even cheaper.
The evening in Khao San is very bustling, the lights and bars are open all night. In the Khao San area, there is a road called Thanon Khao San Road, which specializes in pubs and bars, a parallel street with it called Rambuttri Alley specializing in eateries. We and a group of friends meet here to eat, then play at the pubs until late at night. Oh, I almost forget another interesting thing is that in Khao San T-shirts or tank tops are very beautiful.
8 days in Thailand — Day 8: Shopping
Waking up a little late because we hang out too late yesterday, after finished breakfast we packed up and checked-out. Today’s plan is only go to shopping and buy gifts, so just go around Big C, Central World, Siam shopping malls. Large shopping malls such as Central World, Siam have many Zara and HM brand stores, but this season is not a sale season, so the prices are quite expensive. Buying miscellaneous things also takes a whole day.
In the evening, I went back to the hotel, picked up my baggage and took a taxi to Don Mueang airport, and spent the night at the airport to fly back to Hanoi early the next morning.
