In spite of appearing in many regions and areas throughout Vietnam, these three still have have their own flavor in Con Dao which nowhere has.

Bun rieu cua

‘Riêu’ is the Vietnamese word used for the broth. In addition to tomato and many other ingredients, the most important thing to make Rieu is the crabs, especially the crabs are in Con Dao so the flavor of this dish has its own attractiveness here.

The dish’s flavor is the combination of the broth, crab paste, tomato, fishcake, tofu, meat scraps and many other ingredients. It is usually served with lemon, coriander and many fresh vegetables… If you it to be spicy, you can add chili seasoning .

There is only one bun rieu place in Con Dao so you can ask anybody, well of course local people. They will show you how to get to the bun rieu place of Mrs. Hai Khiem.

Com tam

In Con Dao, when a tourist ask about a com tam place, he/she will be immediately guided to the com tam place: Ms. Thuy near a primary school. Com tam of this place is famous for being delicious with a hot, tender, tasty grilled slice of meat.

The meat is seasoned delicately and very tasty. In addition to meat, there are also many options to choose to eat with the rice, such as delicious ‘bì’ ( which is made from the skin of a pig), fried egg or ‘chả trứng’. And it’s a must to use the sauce (originally from fish sauce, but after some steps of process so it has a little sweet and maybe spicy at the same time).
